BY NADINE GOETZ

Nessa Barrett is currently on a headline world tour with her latest album, “Aftercare.” She played two sold-out nights at the O2 Kentish Town Forum in London on June 3rd and 4th, 2025. Barrett’s career started on TikTok in 2019, earning her millions of followers. She released her debut single “Pain” in 2020 and her first album, “Pretty Poison,” shortly after in 2021, which included the hit single “I hope ur miserable until ur dead.”

Barrett was supported by 19-year-old artist Sombr on this tour, a young American indie-rock singer known for his viral TikTok hits, which he initially recorded and produced in his New York City bedroom. Sombr and his band were welcomed with loud cheers when they took the stage on June 3rd. His live performance felt raw and honest, and his songs were very emotional, revolving heavily around love and being full of heartbreak. The singer is known for exploring themes of heartbreak, love, and other emotions, allowing his audience to connect emotionally with his music through these recurring themes. The 19-year-old already had many fans in the audience singing along to every single word and some who even brought posters trying to catch the singer's attention during his set. Sombr seemed very appreciative of his fans and even came down to the barricade during one song to get closer to the audience. He ended his set with his biggest hit “back to Friends,” which had previously gained viral success on TikTok and led to his rise on various music charts.

Shortly after, Nessa Barrett took the stage dressed in a black feathered costume, opening her set with “Dirty Little Secret.” Just two years ago, Barrett played in London for her “Young Forever” tour in a venue about half the size of where she was playing this year. Critics have praised her latest album, "Aftercare,” for her raw, emotive lyrics and captivating sound. Her setlist was a nice mix of fan favorites and newer songs such as “Mustang Baby,” “Pins and Needles,” and “P*RNSTAR,” which she ended the show with. The visuals and lighting were a great addition to her remarkable vocals, accompanying the songs and making it a stunning experience for the audience. Barrett is known for her honest and vulnerable songwriting, tackling themes of mental health, relationships and other personal struggles. It was clear that her fans in the venue have found solace in her songs and were able to connect with her on an emotional level during the show. During some songs, the 22-year-old pop singer played bass or guitar on stage, showing off her musical talent once more.

The show was a night to remember, proving that Nessa Barrett is one to watch in the music industry. The combination of her powerful vocals, the visuals, and the energy on and off stage made for a truly mesmerizing performance. The night also highlighted the power of social media, as both Nessa Barrett and Sombr have gained a significant following on platforms like TikTok, leading to songs charting thanks to their virality. This success proves that nowadays, social media can play a massive role in artists gaining exposure and building a loyal fan base, leading to a long-lasting career. The night was filled with lots of memories that the fans will surely remember for a long time to come.
