Del Water Gap’s Return to London
BY NADINE GOETZ
Del Water Gap, the solo indie-pop project by Samuel Holden Jaffe, took over HERE at Outernet in London on August 21st, 2025. Fans in the front row had eagerly prepared, crafting posters, flags, and other items to catch the singer’s attention during his performance. Jaffe gained a significant following after his song “Ode To A Conversation Stuck In Your Throat” went viral during the pandemic in 2020, which led to mainstream attention and a major label deal. His artistic roots come from writing books and he is self-taught in recording, creating his first EP in high school. Jaffe has recently supported artists like Niall Horan, Halsey, Girl in Red, Mt. Joy, and many others on tour. The American singer, based in NYC, is currently on tour with dates in London, Dublin and Australia.
The show felt energetic - he was clearly feeding off the crowd’s energy, who showed him a lot of love and support throughout the gig. His 15-song setlist included two unreleased songs - “Please Follow” and “Marigolds.” The singer told the audience that many of the new songs were written in London about a relationship that didn’t work out. Watching the show, it was clear that there is an undeniable connection between Del Water Gap and his fans - a shared sense of mutual admiration and connection. Jaffe even jumped into the pit during the final song of the night, dancing with the fans in the crowd, creating a collective sense of joy and intimacy. He seemed to have endless energy on stage as he ran around, and he even spoke about how he usually climbs on things, joking about how the venue had taken everything down that particular day, saying he wouldn’t be able to do that this time. He headlined Electric Ballroom back in 2024, returning to London, this time to a slightly bigger venue.
The show balanced high energy with more emotional, vulnerable moments. Throughout, Jaffe had fans singing along, cheering, and dancing to the more rock-infused songs. He effortlessly captivated the audience with his heartfelt lyrics and soulful voice, which is clearly deserving of a bigger stage. It’s clear why Del Water Gap had gained such a loyal fan base, and it’s hard to imagine he won’t grow in popularity and reach even more people with his music in the coming months and years. Jaffe’s project, Del Water Gap, is definitely one to watch.
