Gotta Live it Big Time - Big Time Rush in Bristow, VA
BY EMILY SINGH
Rewind to 2009, a year of youth, nostalgia and more importantly, Big Time Rush! There was no better feeling than coming home after a long day of school and getting to watch 4 boys form a band on Nickelodeon - a band that not only brought comedy and relatability to our screens, but also great melodies and catchy lyrics that had us singing along to every episode.
Now the year is 2025 and the band that once carried my youth and occupied my screen is touring worldwide with familiar faces from the show! On July 20th, 2025, Big Time Rush welcomed Bristow, VA to their Big Time Rush in Real Life Worldwide Tour. What made this tour so special is that each song selected on the setlist was derived from the television show. On top of that, the band was joined by two supporting acts, Stephen Kramer who played the boys’ manager (Gustavo), and Katelyn Tarver who played Kendall’s love interest (Jo) on the show.
This night was unforgettable from the start. As the crowd filled each seat with friends, family, signs, helmets, tree hats, and bandanas, you could feel the excitement in the air. At the start of the show the crowd was welcomed by Stephen Kramer who played a killer set of covers including his rendition of Pink Pony Club, which is a TikTok favorite! Shortly after, Katelyn welcomed us with her solo music, earning the hearts of the audience. Then, it was time for the main event. The boys came out with their hit single “Big Time Rush” and the rest was history. Although this show featured multiple special segments, including the traditional ‘go into the crowd and picking a worldwide girl,’ they also included a special segment where the band sat around a piano (played by Stephen) and sang the songs similarly to how they would in the television show. They also sang from a b stage in the middle of the crowd and performed acoustic versions of some of their big hits.
This tour was one like no other. This tour was dedicated to all the adults who grew up with Big Time Rush on their tv screens - the ones who listened to their music and enjoyed every bit of their time on Nickelodeon. This night was not just about their music; this was about reliving the times that we didn't realize would become such a special part of our childhoods.
